This is a Must read about Democrat Senators causing Iraq to contract to China instead of US firms!

Read this article. Especially the second paragraph. This is amazing. These senators should be voted out of the senate NOW!!

McCains VP Pick is EXCELLENT!!!

A lot of the taking heads have been touting the move by McCain to select Sarah Palin as his running mate as a move to get women voters. The one thing they are either missing or glossing over is that she was the BEST choice for McCain to rally the conservative base. Palin is a true down to earth conservative who is from outside the beltway and actually bets me excited about the election now.

Before the pick, I was planning on voting for McCain, primarily against Obama and not necessarily for McCain. This pick has turned my vote from a negative vote to a possative. Now I am excited to vote for McCain/Palin! I think this choice will move the conservative base of the Republican Party to action. Whereas before there was a lot of complacency.

GO McCAIN/PALIN!!!

The state of the USA scares me

I am torn...Being a Christian, I am not supposed to worry as God will take care of me and my loved ones (as well as all believers), but living in todays happenings really makes me wonder.

I truly believe our country is completely messed up. It is nothing like what was intended by the founding fathers (yep...fathers...pretty sexist huh??) Congress was never meant to be a career, but what do we have, career politicians that have completely lost sight of reality. The Court was never meant to make up laws and use foreign laws as references, but they sure due now. The President...Hmmm...What can I say about that? Not sure.

I struggle with mandated term limits because really, voting should be the term limits in my mind. But these congressmen get so entrenched in the system, that it is nearly impossible to get them out. And the money they raise and spend on campaigning is beyond ridiculous. On the other hand, the should never be a senator that is on his 5th, 6th or longer term. It just isn't right. It is career politicians who are not in the real world that mess everything up.

Look at the ethanol mess. They mandated turning our food into fuel. DUMB!!!!!!! Now look what is happening. Food costs are going through the roof because we the tax payers are subsidizing the farms to grow fuel rather than food. And it is not a very good fuel to boot. It takes more energy to make, it produces less energy than gasoline so you get less mileage and burn more. And it is water based so it can't be piped. It has to be transported by truck, thus burning more fuel...AND airplanes can't fly with ethanol because of its water based nature and the risks involved with engines vapor locking. AMAZING

And then there are the "Bush Haters". I actually feel sorry for these people. To hate someone so badly to wish him harm and to constantly lie about him is sad. These people are true hypocrites. The justify the lies that people they like make, but then say that "Bush Lied." I certainly don't agree with everything Bush has done, but I do believe he is a good man and has not blatently lied like these people are saying. Most of the supposed "lies" are the same things many other people said and believed. Did they lie too? I don't think so.

So now that I have rambled on in random directions, I should probably wrap this up and go to bed. The problem is that I have all these thoughts popping up randomly. It's like I can't keep focused on one issue because there are so many that they just bury you.

Hmmm....Back to the Christian in me that is not supposed to worry...Maybe I'll just go back to my programming and try and get my big work project done.

Until the next time I decide to type my random ramblings........

Congress is a joke!

Why is congress concerning themselves with steroids in baseball. This has NOTHING to do with their constitutional duties and has nothing to do with the things that I think that most people consider important. Things like...Hmm...maybe national security, or taxes? They can't do anything useful so they have to look important and bring big names in to hearings to get attention.

Great Book on Christianity

So, I am obviously not very good at this because it has been months since my last post! We'll see if I get better or not...

I just started a great book (so far anyway) called What's So Great About Christianity by Dinesh D'Souza. So far, having only red the first couple of chapters, it seems like a very well written book. At this point I would give it a definate thumbs up.

A couple of problems with government

One of the issues I see as a major problem with our government is the tenure. Elected office was never meant to be a career. You were supposed to be elected, do your service, go home and get back to work. Too many politicians have made it their career and are getting rich off of it, or I should say getting rich off of us the tax payers.

If you are a career politition you just flat out cannot understand the real world. You begin to believe that the government is the answer to everything. These senators and representative who have been in the congress forever are absolutely out of touch. Look at Robert Byrd. He has been there for, I think, 50 years. Does he have a clue what life is like in the private sector? It's not possible.

I strugle with actual term limits, but I think that every elected official should at least self limit thier time in the public sector. Those that don't (pretty much ALL of them) seem to be more interested in gaining and retaining power and influence than doing any real good for the country.

The other issue I see is that any more, it is rediculous to have all of our senators and representative sit in Washington D.C. With the various forms of communications, it would be far better to have them in their respective districts were there is easier access to them by their constituents. Maybe they wouldn't loose touch quite so fast!

Christianity and Politics

Don't get me wrong I love the church that I attend and the congregation is absolutely wonderful. I am excited about raising our daughter in the church, to learn and grow in Christ. But, it is interesting and often times very frustrating how political beliefs play a role.

I saw a bumper sticker stating "Christ is a Liberal" on a vehicle of a church member. My question is "How could you know?" My contention is that Christ is Christ and he is not liberal or conservative. Although, my beliefs really want to lead me to say "Christ is a Conservative!"

So why do I say that? Well, there are many reasons, but one of the prevailing issues that lead me in this direction is the saying "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach him to fish and feed him for a lifetime." Every liberal program and idea that I am aware of that has been tried is really just give entitlements. They do not force someone to learn to be independent. My personal belief, and one that I know true conservative believe (in contrast to RINOs (Republicans in name only), is that giving a hand out can be very harmful while giving a hand up is the way to approach life. And, those that just want a hand out may need to suffer a bit in order to learn they need to accept the hand up rather than the hand out.

A coupe of years ago, I randomly opened my Gideon's bible. I happened to open it to 2 Thessalonians 3 (http://www.guidedbiblestudies.com/53_003.htm). As I read, I was struck by what I read. It really pushed this belief that I have home. Paul basically said, stay away from the slackers. I contrast this with welfare which has really turned into a hand out rather than a hand up. I truly believe that the government should not be involved in this and that it should be a church and charitable function. If people need a hand up, I am more than happy to help if I am able to. But don't ask me for a hand out.

As a member of a church and a follower of Christ, I believe it is my responsibility to give. Giving is good for the heart and soul and if it is given appropriately, it can be turned into a lot of help hand ups.

There is so much to say on this subject I could go on and on. As with everyone who follows Christ my learning will never end.

Peace in Christ

Some old thoughts

About a year and a half ago, I thought about creating a blog. I just ran across so things I typed out thinking I would post them. I never did, but they are still relevant. So thought I would put them here now....

3/18/05

Congressmen (and women if you are PC), are spineless and clueless to the real America. They are more worried about their next election than doing the right thing. If we had more people in elected positions that were worried about the real people out there, some more appropriate thing may get done or in some respects more less appropriate things would NOT get done.

The original intent of our founding fathers was not for life long "Public Servants" (or should I say power hungry ruler wanna be's). People should NOT want to make a living off of the government. That is NOT what the government is for. It is there to protect us and set up some BASIC rules for things such as interstate commerce.

The spending of the federal government is out of control. They should be spending on the military, intelligence, protecting our borders and a few other select issues. They should not be involved with the arts, education and socialist programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

In regards to Social Security, this is a Ponzi scheme. If something like this were tried in the private sector, it would be deemed illegal and those involved would go to jail. The government should NOT guarantee any ones health and welfare. The SHOULD guarantee that a person, be they man, woman, black, red or white, have the opportunity to earn a living and provide for their OWN health and welfare.

Charity is for private organizations. The Government is NOT a charitable organization. I feel that giving to charity should be my choice, not the Governments.

Why do we think we have the right to interfere with other contries? Because we give them money. Take our money, accept our recommendations and/or requirements. Period. We could reduce our budget and lower taxes just be refusing to assist other countries if they don't do certain things…Heck, why are we assisting them anyway?

More Wasted Money…Why all the PSAs (Public Service Announcements)? These cost money to produce and distribute. If people can't figure out that it is illegal to drive without a seatbelt (A whole other issue!) let them get a ticket. I don't need to watch Dummies on the TV or hear them on the radio to know about seatbelts! This and every other PSA out there that I can think of is a waste.

3/19/05

Adoption…Why is one of our Senators (Larry Craig) flying to India regarding adoption. He is the head of or part of some senate commission or committee regarding adoption. The laws in the US are a joke regarding adoption. It is easier to go to another country than to adopt a poor baby from a crack mom.

To step back, why is the Senate even involved with adoption anyway. Does it have anything to do with security or interstate commerce?

There is a lot more to say, but I don't have the time now.

3/20/05

Religion…I am not a constitutional scholar, but I think that I am usually a rational and somewhat intelligent guy. I don't know of any place in the Constitution guaranteeing freedom FROM religion. The First Amendment states:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

Pasted from <http://www.house.gov/Constitution/Amend.html>

Note the wording here. "Congress shall make no law" - This doesn't mean that they cannot practice or be proponents for their religious beliefs. They just can make a law forcing religion upon the citizens.
